OK, I have been wanting to get an over locker (serger for you American Folk) for ages. The other day my bestest friend in the whole wide world (i have known her since we were 5!) arrived home from 2 years in China. We caught up for dinner and were chatting about my sewing and stuff. Yesterday she phoned me and said her Mum wants to lend me her over locker!!! Oh my goodness!
THEN... I was driving home tonight with Javi looking at the inorganic rubbish on the side of the road and i saw...................... an over locker!!!! It had no cord but apart from that looked in really good condition! I got it home and plugged my sewing machine cord in to it and it works!!! Perfectly! I am going to get it serviced and try to get a new cord for it! talk about a blessing! (If anyone has a spare cord for a Janome, let me know!)
This morning the girls were talking to our neighbour, Kevinthelawnmowerman, they were talking about his sunflowers, next thing you know he had cut one each for the girls! Beautiful!!
P.S plus a couple of random kiddie photos!

What luck to find just what you wanted like that!! I'd love to have a serger. My mother-in-law just got a brand new one and is giving the old one to my sis-in-law, who hates to sew...so that all of us can have access to it... I want it!! Is that bad?
I'd love a serger too...they are so expensive and I am not sure I would even know how to use one. I need my sleepy sacks and kimono dresses to be serged. I could just send them to you....LOL :) That would be economical and time efficient, eh?
beebeemod - I don't know how to use it either! Karen from http://randomthoughtskaren.blogspot.com/ is coming over to give me lessons! She says it is easy-peasy!
Tirzah - Will she let you *borrow* it?? Maybe your SIL would forget about it!
Oh Jess!! Wow!! Don't you just love dayz like that! What a blessing and you so deserve to have one as YOU will make good use of it. I too could do with one of those fabulous machines....oh how easy things would be. You never know...may find one on the side of the road in the Waikato....hehehe
I think she'll let me, we're good friends. She doesn't have any blood sisters and mine is 2000 miles away, so we are practically sisters. Thanks for dropping by and I would LOVE to see your pattern for a baby carrier. What kind of fabric did you use. I don't quite understand what kind is recommended...
hey girl
ikwym about *wanting* a good machine.
i sew everything on my great-uncle's (i think he collected it, never actually sewed with it lol) 1950's bernina machine. it sews forwards and backwards and *that's it*..
i had a wee panic this morning when i got asked to sew two *balldresses* for D17's school show...
thankfully my dear friend lou made the emergency dash over with hers, and helped me pin the zip in etc.
oh, i am such a pseudo-sewer lol
Haha, that is so random about the overlocker! Things like that happen to me too.. I got my overlocker off trademe for around $80.. it's only a 3-thread though, but it works really well :)
be warned......if you don't swear as a matter of course yet....you just might eventually;-)
wow cool what a blessing
beautiful flowers
God is one fantastic God. One woman's garbage is another woman's treasure. I hope you enjoy your treasure. My mom got rid of her serger in a yard sale this summer and I am still kicking myself for not grabbing it. It went WAY too cheap.
speaking of party gifts, did you see *your* beebeemod won a prize...and so did your IRL friend who has.....of all things....a GARDENING BLOG.......yeah I won too! Kate had to tell me!!!!!!! Thanks for convincing me to join the party!
